After experiencing intermittent involuntary restarts I did a virus check and
windows update ... neither cured the problem so I decided to re-install
Windows XP Pro 2002 from the CD.
Now I find that I cannot use dialup nor indeed set up a dialup connection...
only option is Broadband (which is not available in my area until next year)
During my frantic efforts I did manage to get an error message no 711 which
means absolutely nothing to me

I also find that Office will no longer open - maybe I can remove and
re-install that
I had another error message informing me that a partial installation of SP1
was causing the problem

Any suggestions other than a reformat and clean install ... It takes ages to
get all the updates for Windows, Office, Norton etc

Regards & TIA
