I get an Error when I type Me.ID="Code, Me" for VBA in Access.

Care to use the big white space to give some indication of what it is you're
trying to do? Simply putting a question in the Subject line is seldom (if
ever) sufficient. If you're getting an error, it helps responders
considerably if you say what the error is. It also usually helps to know
what version of Access you're using, and sometimes even what operating
system.

The line of code

Me.ID="Code, Me"

is going to populate a field (or control on a form or report) with the
literal string Code, Me. Is that what you want it to do?

I can understand your conception on me not having enough sufficent
information to reply to my email. However, I made a common mistake and send
this email before I could add the necessary data to get a sufficent reply.
However, I did send another email, if you would have noticed several days
ago, with enough data to get a respond from others. Therefore, your help is
not needed. You are a day late and a dollar short. All you had to do is not
respond!

And how's Doug supposed to know that your later message was on the same
topic? If you're going to be rude to people who try to answer messages
that have remained unanswered for a few days -- especially the most
knowledgeable people around -- you're not likely to get a lot of help.

Why haven't you said anything about him being rude to me? He responded to
my question as if I didn't have any type of understanding. He stated, " Care
to use the big white space to give some indication of what it is you're
trying to do?" I thought that was rude and degrading of him to make that
respond. He should have not responded to me in an impolitely fashion.

Yes, Doug was a bit flippant in his reply. But then, we see many, many
posts with only a subject, no message body, and almost all of them are
from people who don't, as you say, "have any type of understanding."
The few that result from a simple mechanical error usually have an
immediate followup post in the same thread, or with the same title,
correcting the error. You didn't do that, but rather posted a new
thread with a new subject, so in my opinion Doug was justified in
concluding that your original message fell into the "clueless" category.

Those who donate their time to answering questions in these newsgroups
(no one gets paid for it, you know) do get a bit testy when users post
questions in the subject, with no explanatory message body. It's bad
netiquette, and it feels very demanding. So I can forgive Doug for
dealing with that irritation with an ironic remark. Whether you choose
to is, of course up to you.

You said, “We see many, many post with only a subject, no message body, and
almost all them are from people who don’t have any understanding.†Most
people do have understanding and I believe that is an understatement. Just
because a person doesn’t add information where the information was to be
inputted doesn’t justify the person’s creditability. It could be a simply
overlooked error –like it was in this case. Maybe, I was wrong for not using
the same thread to correct my reply; however, have you ever thought that
maybe some people (like me) may not have known to retroact their responses or
that this could be done? You said, “Many people add questions frequently in
the subject area without explanatory message bodyâ€, but that is not a reason
for a person to be discourteous. There is a proper and orderly way of
handling the problem whether you are the doing something for free or not. I
firmly live by the GOLDEN RULE: “You should treat people how you would want
to be treatedâ€. I appreciate you for being optimistic and apologizing for
his irate actions.
