The error reads "Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the admin of this server to find out if
you have access permissions. A list of servers for this workgroup is not
currently available"

Since I have administrative access to the 3 computers on the network and
have not restricted access to any of the computers this doesn't make sense. I
get this message no matter which computer I use. The network worked fine for
about 6 mo and suddenly we can't use network printers and exchange files.

When viewing the error log I get the following:
Dhcp - The IP address lease 192.168.1.102 for the Network Card with network
address 0040CA542CC9 has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.1.1 (The DHCP
Server sent a DHCPNACK message).

Can anyone explain what this means?

All the computers are running Windows XP spc2 on an ethernet networked to a
Lynksys router which is connected to a DSL converter.

Since you have SP2, did you check to see if the Windows Firewall is
enabled? Service Pack 2 automatically enables the Windows Firewall. If
you are not running a third-party firewall, go to the Windows Firewall
applet in Control Panel and enable File & Printer Sharing on the
Exceptions tab. If you are using a third-party firewall (and have
properly configured it to allow your lan traffic as Trusted), then turn
the Windows Firewall off. You don't want two firewalls running, and a
third-party program will be better than the WF. All firewalls must be
properly configured to allow lan traffic as Trusted.

If that doesn't help, here is an excellent network troubleshooter by MVP
Hans-Georg Michna. Take the time to go through it carefully and it will
pinpoint the source of the problem.
