i get an error message when try to insert file pic to word process

Hello, I have been trying to insert a photo into microsoft word, but each
time I try, I get an error box that it isn't going to work and that my doc.
will be closing, and do I want to send an error report to microsoft? I
always check "yes", then it saves my work, and closes, but it never allows me
to insert a picture from my file. I have windows xp home, have downloaded
all available updates, etc, and it still does this. Any ideas out there? I
appreciate any and all help. ......Evie

* Word version (and updates)
* photo file type and size
