My I. E. was hacked (just slightly rearranged but sill usable) . After
using Microsofts cool beta spyware killer and comcasts neat zapper Security
Manager, my system is running smooth once again but I. E. is still
disfigured. How do you repair this ?

under the run menu trype in sfc /scannow :) make sure you have your xp cd in
when it runs. it searches system files to make sure they are not corrupt.
there used to be a "repair internet explorer" i can't find it anymore tho.
good luck

Hi Lance,

Reinstall it. Go to the Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab, set it to
"Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system
files [recommended]". Also uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then, open Windows Explorer from Start/All Programs and go to the
C:\Windows\Inf folder. Locate the ie.inf file, right-click it and choose
install.

You may need to either insert your WinXP CD or know where your I386 folder
is located on the hard drive. You may also need to know where the
\ServicePackFiles folder is (usually under the Windows directory).

Wrong word to use, ment a rearrangement and it took some time to get the
address window to show up again. Did get hijackthis... does it run in the
background or only creates a notebook copy to post when launched Kelly ?

Hi Lance,

This combo helps and works for the next time and added info:

Run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot and HijackThis:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

Note: Update each program, once installed, before running.

Return Search to XP default, line 229 and restore Address Bar line 3.
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Or: Address Bar Missing-Click Start, Run and type REGSVR32 /i BROWSEUI.DLL,
Reboot

As per your HijackThis question, it does not run in the background.
