I download a file and it immediately disappears from desktop once

I try to download a file and once the download is complete, the icon while
appear for only a split second if at all and then disappear. Please help,
thank you in advance.
 
The file is probably infected with a virus and your virus scanner
takes care of it before it can do any damage. Check your virus
scanner log. If this is the case, be more careful about the things
you download.

First create a new folder for file downloads. Download all new files to
it.
 
Perhaps your installation of Internet Explorer is damaged.
Try re-installing it, or use Firefox.
 
I already tried that, it wont let me download mpegs ANYWHERE. Well, like I
said, it "appears" to be letting me download them (it goes through the
motions) it just wont let me keep them for more than a split second.

The name of your anti-virus and firewall may help the people here to
resolve your problem. Provide as much detail as you can. It 'appears'
that your anti-virus is set to delete certain incoming files regardless
if they are infected or not.
