I click one of my powerpoint presentation and it says that Powerpoint cannot
open it. When I click on help, an Alert comes up and says

"Powerpoing can't read C:\Documents and Settings\ etc..."
In help it says:

"PowerPoint can't read this file
The file you tried to open may not be a Microsoft Office PowerPoint file
(.ppt). Check the original file to determine the file type. You may be able
to edit the file in a program designed to use that file type."

But i KNOW i just finished using that same program. Then all of a sudden i
cant open it???

Hello *Power*Point* ,

Try opening PowerPoint: File: Open:
Search for file and double click to open it.
Does it open? If yes, then your .ppt file is "too far removed" from
the PowerPoint.exe file.

Change the adress of the folder where you keep your .ppt and .ppp files
and put it in the same directory as the PowerPoint .exe file or in C:

If no, then you probably have a corrupt file.

Also check that the file is enabled to be opened by PowerPoint.

Open Explorer: Go to folder where you have .ppt file: click once on
file:
Click on Tools: Folder Options: File types: PPT in the drop down list:
Check that PPT extensions are opened by PowerPoint, if not, change it.

Hope that helps,

Tom

Are you using PPT 2003? If so, go to Help/Check for Updates and install SP-1
for Office 2003.

hiaa,
i have the same problem as that person i cant open powerpoint not only
powerpoint but all my office files do not open saved files i dont know why
can anyone help please?

1) Apply all Office and windows updates (especially the SPs). This may
require several passes to completely update everything.

Post back if this does not solve the problem by itself.
