I' can't save images in any format other than Bitmap

Please help!

I' can't save images (from the internet only) in any
format other than Bitmap.
When I' save the image, the 'save as' option,
it's only Bitmap.
It saves JPG images as Bitmam and the size is as big as
3MB???

And something else.
The folder view settings, are not staying the way
I' want.
If for example set a folder in thumbnails view,
it will change to defolt settings (tiles) after
I' close it.
This it's not happening with all the folders.
(The, Control Panel/Folder Options/View/Remember each
folder's view settings, tick box is checked)

and
the temp folder is set to hold 1,23GB
but is 4GB now and going up

Clear your temporary internet files and try again. The other formats should
come back.
And something else.

XP by default only remembers 400 folders views. Use TweakUI for xp to
increase how many it remembers or this fix(column 1, #2)

Not sure how you set this. There is no option to limit the size of the temp
folder. You can limit size of temp internet files folder and recycle bin.
Anything in the temp folder under your user name or under windows folder can
be deleted.
