I can't get rid of CC_ccStart and ccCommon - are they a threat?

I was looking at the "Add or Remove Programs" and I noticed that 2 entries
recently appeared: "CC_ccStart" and "ccCommon". I have no idea what these
are and they don't have the "Change/Remove" button that other installed
programs have. Firstly, I'd like to know how I can find out the location of
these files. Secondly, I'd like to know what they are, if possible, and if
they are a security risk. My browser may have been high jacked recently,
there were a few moments when I was surfing a website and IE froze for about
15-30 seconds and then came back. I think they appreared after that. The
only other thing I did was install CuteFTP 6 Home, but they do not seem to be
related. Thanks in advance.

Solution

Do you have the "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility" ? If not, do a google search and download this free IMPORTANT program. After setting it up, and running it from the Start Menu- you will see a list off all programs that have been installed by using the Windows Installer.

I had the same problem as you did. Although these spyware programs were not able to be removed from the Add/Remove Programs menu, you CAN remove the "CC_ccStart" by using this utility.

I hope this helps!!!
