I kept a back up of my Outlook by exporting to a file in preparation for my
new computer. I was able to get my email file folders to come over but
cannot get my calendar, tasks, and contact info to transfer from the file
into the newly reloaded program on the new computer.

Really useful help, especially as it does not appear to be avaialble within
Outlook's help files. Thank you. HOWEVER:-
I now have two personal folders in my folder list and they both have
identical information.
Microsoft tell me that I can right click on one and close it to cure the
problem but I can't as both personal folders show this right click menu
option in grey so it is not available.
Can anyone help please?

You have corrupted your Outlook Profile, most likely due to the method used
to migrate old data
In control Panel>Mail Applet create a new profile - not copy old- add the
data file & mail accounts, set it as default (all with outlook closed)

Thank you Dianne. Very helpful signpost and looks like I edit the registry or
create a new profile so will try to resolve later today.

you have a ghost pst - you can either make a new profile now or try to fix
it using the instructions at http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/ghosts.htm.
