I can't get into my Outlook

I can open Outlook, but at the "front page", it gives me a message:
"Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience." I send the error report, but what good is it? I can
see that I have unread messages, but I cannot access them. I have two
questions: Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Is there a way to access
those emails without using Outlook?

Try running Detect and Repair from the Help menu of another installed
Microsoft Office product, such as Word. You'll need to have your Office CD
handy.
