When I try typing in Microsoft Word, I can't type, and it keeps saying
"Command is not available because document is locked for edit" How do I
unlock document so that I can type in Word again?

Sounds like "reduced functionality mode" either because you have not
activated the software, or because you have an expired trial version of
Office 2003. What happens if you start Word and then click on Help |
Activate Product?

When I click on activate product a screen pops up and asks would I like to
activate using the internet or by telephone. Then when I press "Activate by
using Internet-Next", I get a warning saying that Microsoft Word 2002 has
already been activated on another computer, because our computers are
networked.

You need as many copies of Office (or licenses for Office) as you have
computers. You can't purchase just one copy of Office and install it on
every computer in your network. When you have the correct number of copies,
you'll be able to activate with a unique product key for each installation.
