When opening outlook, it gives the error:

"Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The
information store could not be opened."

It then asks me if I would like to open my default File
System folder instead? If I say no, it closes outlook.

I just installed office 2000 pro and haven't even set up
any e-mail accounts yet. I tried to, but under
the "Tools" drop-down, I am unable to select "Options".

Go to Control Panel, double click on the mail icon and install your mail
account from there.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Ben asked:

Okay, I went to the control panel, removed the Exchange
Server account (because our network doesn't have Exchange
Server) set up our standard internet mail account (to
function with our LAN) and now when I open Outlook I get:

"Unable to open your default email folders. Outlook could
not start because a location to send and receive mail
could not be found. To add a location, such as a personal
folder file, double click the mail icon in the Windows
Control Panel."

Isn't this what I just did? Is there something I'm
missing? Or is this now an issue with our LAN?
