Okay, earlier this week I had a hard time sending through windows mail to the
gmail server, but after a complicated tutorial online that involved me
editting certain files I was able to fix it. I recently added two new e-mail
accounts, but neither of them allow me to send. It tells me this after it
fails:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: Your facebook
password', Account: 'AOL', Server: 'smtp.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'This is just a test', Account: 'HuskyMail', Server:
'email.mtu.edu', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 2525, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number:
0x800CCC0F
(I used port 2525 because on my college's website it said that if you have
trouble sending through port 25 to use this instead.)

Connections to port 25 that cross from one internet provider's equipment
to another's are likely to be blocked to cause trouble for spammers. Also,
port 25 and SSL are seldom used together. Check AOL's instructions
and see if they call for something else.

Also, click on Tools, then Accounts. For each new email account, click
on the account, then Properties. If there is no check mark in the box
before Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing, click on
this box and then Apply. Click on OK and go on to the next account.
If there are no more accounts, click on Close.

I used the about.com walkthrough when I was setting it up originally, so
that's not the problem, and I already have those boxes checked.

that link you sent me is a walkthrought for outlook express, while I have
windows mail.

Windows Mail uses the same settings as Outlook Express.

Bad philosophy! What works for one mail server will not work for another.
It is always best to use the settings specified by the owner of the particular
mail server:

Your error message says you are using port 25 instead of 587.
Also, you should not be using the SSL option.

Okay changing the outgoing mail port to 587 fixed things, but what do I do
about huskymail?

New problem, everytime I hit send/recieve messages, I get an error from
gmail, saying my drafts folder couldn't be accessed. Also, I just now
noticed that there is no inbox for new mail under huskymail, just drafts,
sent, trash, and junk mail folders.

Good to know, but the aol problem has been resolved thanks to you guys. If
you look up above, besides huskymail not being able to send, I have some new
problems.

PROBLEMS SOLVED, with gmail, I just had to turn sychronizations off for the
gmail subfolder [gmail]. AOL was solved thanks to you guys.(port 587for
outgoing mail) And for huskymail I had to have the store special folders on
IMAP server box checked under the IMAP tab of properties. Thanks for your
help everyone. Now if you want to help with my other problem, please search
the community for dnserror and look for my thread.

You're welcome.

Recently modified, so don't expect it to be the same as last year.

That is not true, I have an inbox sub-folder in every different e-mail I have.

What Robert said is true for POP accounts... you are using IMAP, with which
I am unfamiliar.
