I have just installed win XP Pro and all the drivers etc. but all my MP3's
have now turned into media files and when played they turn every track into a
high speed version by Pinky and Perky. Any idea how I can make them
automatically MP3?

Thanks

I have NO idea(s)

However - the question is begged by the wording of your post: What business does a 'security' upgrade (sp2) have in messing with ones personal files?

I have a slightly higher than average IQ, am just moderately educated and am fairly computer literate and yet I have not the capacity to understand why people would want to risk a working computer system on the fiasco that is sp2. I've read, literally, thousands of posts regarding sp2 problems, viewed many dozens of sites/pages related to sp2 problems and their 'supposed'(?) cures and have read many tech industry related columns and articles on the subject and I can state that if I had read/had available 1/10 that number I wouldn't touch sp2!

I understand the want to have the latest-and-greatest tech stuff. I set up an ISDN connection back in the windows 98 beta days so I could get the nightly cab files in minutes to a couple of hours instead of 5 to 10 hours that most dialup connections took. I spent three years in the Office betas and 5 years in the MSN betas and a few months into the XP betas.

I like testing new things and solving computer problems as much as most that do so. But I NOT a masochist!

What do you mean by "turned into media files"? Have you intalled
current XP drivers for the sound card?

What in the world does your post have to do with the OP's question?

MP3 files *are* media files. What this sounds like to me is that there
is a default sampling rate being assumed for them that does not match
the actual one for the files. A r-click on a file, Properties and
summary page should tell you the bit rate it should be; Check in Media
Player for a setting that should match and does not
