Hey Friends,
I need your help to solve my problem,
The problem is whenever I connect my dialup connection
then I cannot disconnect, I can open the property of
dialup and I can see on there the button of disconnect
but whenever I click on disconnect nothing happens, and I
have to restart the computer to disconnect or have to
unplug the telephone cable. I did try to disconnect
connection from my dialup shortcut (two computers icon)
beside the clock but same thing now response, I did
reinstall the modem driver but same result. I am sure
that my Fax Modem is ok.

Thanks and regards

What does a scan with a current antivirus program (meaning a version not
earlier than 2002 and using updated virus definitions) show? Also,
remove spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy from www.security.kolla.de
and Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to update these programs
before running them. It is best to run antivirus and spyware removal
tools in Safe Mode.

Once you know your computer is virus and spyware-free, if you're still
having problems repost. Be sure to give information about your modem
(make/model), your ISP, and what you've already done to troubleshoot.

First I would check for Virus or Spyware. Use AVG from Grisoft.com for
viruses and Ad-Aware from lavasoft for spyware. It is possible that
something is preventing a disconnect. You could also try re-seating
the modem card. Also try to repair the Internet Explorer program. A
more drastic test would be to reinstall windows (in case some driver
or registry entry is screwed up). If all else fails check the
hardware, there could be a short in the connector or modem. Check for
dust or moisture in the phone cord. It is also possible that the modem
card has a bad relay.

Yes friend I did try that SEARCH AND DESTROY and that Add-
ware removal software, and I am using McAfee Virus Scan
with latest super DAT file. My modem is ok. This problem
I am not facing only on 1 machine, Same thing was
happened with 2 other machines, One was ok with SEARCH
AND DESTROY software but other 2 are having the same
problem. Even I did change the ISP, and modem as well.

Thanks and regards,

Yes, well that's why it would have been better to have known what you
already did to troubleshoot in your first post. Since the problem is on
your network, either you have a network-aware worm that is not being
caught by your av or your network settings are incorrect. Check with
your ISP. You may want to consult outside help because usually a
problem like yours is best solved hands-on.

Good luck,

Thanks dear
