The following appears on a dialogue box when I try to open the file:
"Cannot find the file C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\file namemdb."
I have a Windows 95 operating system, and Microsoft Office 2000 Service pack
2 cd and 4 other micrososft 2000 cd's SR-1's.
I have no problems with opening any other files, i.e. Word, Excel etc.
I cannot open any of the Access files regardless of where they are on the
computer.
When I attempt to open the Access programme via start programmes, the access
logo briely appears and then disappears off the screen.
I would be grateful for assistance on this as one of my access files
contains a list of 3000 + videos of films videos articles etc.
I look forward to your assistance.
Regards.

So many possibilities....

First, you make no mention of "Pro"

as in, Office 2000 Pro

if you only have Office 2000,
I believe you will get a little "stub" file
called msaccess.exe, but that is not the same
as the full-blown Access.exe program you
get with Office 2000 Pro.

Have you tried accessing the db through Excel?
(I believe...I could be wrong...that is why you
"see" an msaccess.exe in Office 2000 not-Pro).

The full version of msaccess.exe should be ~4573KB
for 2000 Pro.
