I can send an email, with or without attachments, from my home computer to my
work computer, but not vice-versa. Whenever I try this, I am told that my
email address is not recognised. I am using Outlook at both locations.

Hello Ben, and thank you for replying.
In answer to your question, the result is the same whether replying to an
email sent from home, or sending an "original" from work.
As a test, I sent two from home this morning (one with, one without
attachment),
and they arrived; I duly replied to them, and also sent two further emails,
one with and one without attachment. On returning home I find that none of
them have arrived; I'll have to wait until I return to work tomorrow to see
if I have any mail telling me "address not recognised".

Thank you again,

Rick.

O.K., and does your home computer receive e-mail from other sources? If
you're not sure you can have a friend send an e-mail to it and see if it's
received.

That is pretty weird. When you say "work colleagues" you mean other users
at your work using the same mail server as you are? If not, can somebody
else at your office send mail to your home account or same result?

I'll try this and contact you later.

Rick.

Hello again Ben,
Things have got a little stranger. One of my work colleagues sent two emails
to me,
one via Outlook which did not arrive, and one via Outlook Express which DID
arrive.
I must point out that our company email address is different in each case.

Rick.

Hello Ben, and thank you for bearing with me.
Yes, our company email is through an exchange.
I tried another test email from work to home and got a message from the
system administrator "the recipient name is not recognized" but I can assure
you
I do exist under "(e-mail address removed)".

Rick.

I'm going to guess that the Outlook Express sender did NOT use the Exchange
server to send?

Any chance that AOL has blocked your domain? Can you send to other AOL
recipients successfully?

Correct regarding Outlook Express: it uses a different exchange server.
Incidentally, my wife sent an email home from her place of work, also using
Outlook, and it arrived here.
???
I have McAfee Security Centre installed. Is it worth lowering the security
levels, or
is this too great a risk?

Rick.

Disable it temporarily, send a test e-mail, reenable it. If it works then
you know McAfee is the problem.

Good evening Ben.
I've tried that, and McAfee is in the clear. I'll take your advice on AOL
and let you
know the outcome.

Thanks again,

Rick

Hello Ben,
I've contacted both AOL and our company Exchange server administrator and
I'm awaiting the outcome. I'll be away for a short time now but will be in
touch in the very near future.
Thank you for your help and direction so far.

Rick.

Hello Ben,
Thank you for your assistance with my Outlook email problem. After following
your advice I have found the root of the problem - the company exchange
server.

Thank you once again for pointing me in the right direction, and I wish you
and your company the greatest success in 2006.

Happy New Year,

Rick Kirkbride.
