I have several PCs in my home. I can see all of them from my laptop,
but they cannot see my laptop.

I can connect, ping, share the resources on the my wife's PC.

She cannot even ping my IP address. I even went so far as to use
Microsoft's home networking wizard on both PCs.

Both machines can see the internet.

I've tried DHCP and manually assigned IP addresses. The IP addresses
are both using the same subnet.

192.168.0.80
192.168.0.82

Both have subnet of 255.255.255.0.

I am really confused. Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Thanks,
Thom

Thom,

There are 2 common causes for this problem. First, check for misconfigured or
overlooked firewalls.
<http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/your-personal-firewall-can-either-help.html>
Next, check for the restrictanonymous setting.

If no help yet, help us to help you. Provide output from "browstat status" and
"ipconfig /all", and we can diagnose the problem. Please follow these
instructions precisely.

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

ChucK,

Thanks for the input but the problem is not related to the firewall or
restrictanonymous. Regardless of the setting for those values I
cannot ping from my wife's PC to my laptop. Ironically, I can remote
into my wife's PC from my laptop.

Still looking for a solution....

Thom

Chuck,

Actually, after turning off and back on the firewall on both my wife's
PC and my laptop, the problem was resolved.

THANKS A LOT.

That's a good start with the diagnostics. But please start a new thread, with a
