I have been e-mailing all day. All of a sudden I have been getting a error
message.
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

You omitted the most important part of the error message, which should
look something like this:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.myisp.net', Server: 'smtp.myisp.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

I am new to this and saw your anwer to someone's similar problem, and this is
the message I get on my Windows Mail. So I'm sending it to you as you had
requested of that person.I can not send or receive mail. Only the last three
messages keep coming up. I have contacted my provider and they have walked
me through trying to fix the problem, but it has failed. Help.

Are you sure that you have not misspelled 'windstream' in the server name>
tools>accounts>your account>properties>sever tab.
