Everytime I open Outlook, the same messages are delivered again.

I set the preferences to have the messages remain on the server for a few
days, in case someone wants to pick up messages on their own computer. Is
this the problem? I use Eudora at home and do not have this problem.

I would say that is your problem... if you disable the store messages on
server option, they will not be there the next time, although others won't be
able to access the messages from other computers.

If the UID cache is working correctly, it shouldn't matter whether or not
the messages are left on the server, the messages would still be flagged as
having been downloaded already and would not be downloaded again.

What version of Outlook do you have? Do you have any anti-virus software
that scans your incoming messages? If so, turn off that scan - it has been
known to cause this problem.

I am using Microsft Office Outlook 2003 SP1 for Students and Teachers. I do
have Norton running. I disable Norton doesn't it leave me vunerable for
viruses coming through my email?

I tried disabling Norton. It did not make a difference.

From what I've read in these newsgroups, if you have Norton you'll need to
uninstall Norton, reboot, then reinstall Norton without the scanning
options.

Disabling this will not should not leave you open to viruses - my
understanding is that Norton also includes a "run-time" or "on access"
component that will not allow an infected program to run, so removing the
virus from a message isn't necessary.

If disabling Norton doesn't help, try getting the hotfix referred to in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;885243.
