I am using Outlook 2003 with Yahoo email. I am getting messages and sending
messages. However I am now receiving duplicates of my messages, within an
hour I went from 450 messages to over 3000. I have Windows XP. Can you
offer any suggestions?

Disable your Anti-virus incoming/outgoing mail scanning.

(insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal account
will be deleted without reading.

Thank you. It seems to have solved that problem. Strange that it would just start doing that.

I was getting 100+ copies/day of the same message from Yahoo Small Business
Mail. I finally discovered that the Yahoo mail server had two copies of the
same message in the INBOX. Once I moved these messages to a folder the
deludge of repeated messages stopped.

I have found this same answer on 4 different boards - all posted by the same
user. First, If I follow this advice then I have no incoming email scan ...
which I would like to maintain. Second: Doesn't MS (or someone) have a real
answer to this problem yet? I have seen this question and answer as far back
as March '04. Also, the problem appears to happen with just about any Virus
Protection package. I am using Trend Micro PC-cillin 2005. In my book that
makes it Microsoft's problem to fix.

Thanks,
Barry

BZZZTTTTTT!

Sorry - no soup for you.

The AV interrupts the handshake between the server and Outlook and basically
tells the server, "no, this message has not been downloaded yet. Try again."

It is up to the AV vendors to fix THEIR problem (notice how when you disable
the integration, the problem goes away - here is a cluestick - it is NOT
Microsoft Outlook.)

Oh, and as for the incoming email scan, if your AV provides real time, on
access scanning, this is totally redundant and just a marketing ploy.
