I just purchased a new computer with vista. I have installed my office
student 2003 and can not get my new emails to download. I get emails prior
to the date i purchased the computer, but nothing since the date I registered
the program. Now I get an error message saying I have to subscribe to get my
email.

I looked at the subscriptions, but they seem to be for business. I have
only one email account and it is personal use. Must I pay to get my emails,
or is there some way of using outlook for personal (non-business) email and
not have to subscribe to a service I do not need or want?

Subscribe to what?
If you have an ISP and an internet connection, set up a profile for Outlook
to use. It will require the names of your ISP's incoming (POP3) and outgoing
(SMTP) servers and of course your password for authentication. Check their
website for details. See this website for instructions on creating a new
Outlook profile.

If this doesn't work, please post the exact error message that occurs upon
send/receive and any other error messages.

Oh, subscribe. There is a subscription that covers every possible
product and service? No, but there are subscriptions to specific
products or services. You might try naming WHAT is the e-mail service
to which you need to subscribe?

Is it Hotmail, maybe? If so, download the Outlook Connector from
Microsoft's downloads page and see if that works. Freebie Hotmail
accounts stopped working with old-coded WebDAV clients (Outlook and
Outlook Express) back in November 2004. You need to use the new
Outlook Connector plug-in (works only with OL2003 and OL2007) or use
Microsoft's Windows Live Mail replacement for Outlook Express. I
haven't use Hotmail in a long time because I am not interested in
using a service with a proprietary protocol that locks me into an
extremely limited choice for e-mail clients.
