When I open Outlook 2003 I get an error message saying: An extension filr
failed to initialize. Can't open the file: extend.dat. It also says the file
may not exist. How do I correct this problem?

Might want to check this location under Windows 2000/XP.

\Documents and Settings\<USERID>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

If extend.dat does exist, just rename the file to extend.bak while Outlook
is closed. Launch Outlook and it will rebuild this file from information in
the registry.

/neo

ps - you also might consider doing a chkdsk on the "C" drive at some point
to rule out any other oddities with the hard drive.
