I have made a VPN connection between my home PC (Windows XP Home Edition) and
my office workstation (Windows XP Professional Edition).

I am connected, but I don't see my office workstation anywhere. How do I
find it?

The VPN connection provides a tunnel (electronic path) between the two
computers. By itself - all it does is provide the connectivity. You can now
map a drive from the computer at work to yours so that any files/folders
will be visible as long as you have the file sharing set and proper
privileges established. If your goal is to run your workstation from your
home computer, then you need to use an application such as UltraVNC (there
are others) that allow remote control of a system. In essence, its as
though you're sitting at the computer.

You post is a bit confusing in that you didn't state what you are connected
to. Are you connected to a VPN server or is the connection directly to your
workstation (acting as a VPN Server). More info will help - like just what
is it you want to do?

Try: \\<\IPaddressofOfficeWorkstation>

If this does not work, you either need a static route, or you can try
unclearing the check box for Use default gateway on remote network in TCP/IP
Advanced properties in the VPN connection connectoid on your home PC.

Sorry - obviously 'unclearing' = 'clearing'.

Thanks!

This did the trick, sorta. After I connect and disconnected, there was some
time before I could connect again. Is there a default waiting period before
a disconnection is logged off of the Win XP Pro machine?
