Hyperthreading?

Hi,

I've got some W2K Citrix XP servers here with Xeon CPU's which don't have Hyperthreading turned on. Is this a good idea? - some of our apps are 16bit and one runs in a DOS session.

Thanks

Guy

I've heard some funny issues occur with HyperThreading
when it comes to terminal servers and scalability. If I
were you, I would take a good look at your server using
some benchmarking utilities. Then turn HyperThreading on
and see how it compares.

We've done some performance testing here at MS and seen that there's
been roughly 5-15% performance improvement. It doesn't seem like
having it disabled should be any big deal.

We have purchased Dell 1750s with Dual 2.8Ghz Xeons and 2gb of Ram.
We've been having problems with them blue screening with an error
0x80000004.

We have been looking into this with MS and Dell, but I'm curious if
anyone thinks that hyperthreading could be affecting this.

Thanks.
