I have outlook 2003 on my workstation and linking to files works
automatically, you just type in the link and hit enter and a blue link
apppears. However, most users on my system currently use outlook 2000 and
this functionality isn't built in. How do I enable outlook to create
hyperlinks to files on network drives automatically in Outlook 2000?

I'm speaking specifically of linking to I:\folder\filename.doc for example.

You have several choices, here are two.

First make sure the format of your email is HTML Create a new mai
message and Select Format...HTML.
Then in when in the body of your mail message...

1. Select Insert...Hyperlink...select change the drop down type t
"\\file:" key in (or CtrlV, CtrlP) the path into the box... click ok

You can highlight a section of text in your email prior to performin
#1 above and that text will be hyperlinked to the path rather tha
showing the path itself.

2. You could manually type \\file:I:\folder\filename.doc in th
text of the document as well, but the first method is easier especiall
if you have spaces in your path and/or filename.
