Hyperlinks in Headers and Footers

Hopefully someone will be able to assist me in what I thought would be a very
basic and simple task. I am creating a Letterhead in MS Word which requires
hyperlinks to appear on every page (eg, as part of a header and/or footer).
Unfortunately, even the most simple of header/footer hyperlinks will not work
in Word. The text appears but nothing happens (except when you change the
focus to to Header). Very frustrating!! Hope this all makes sense :-S

I've checked online MS help without luck. Surely this (basic??) function is
available. I have MS Office Professional 2003.

If this function isn't available, does anyone have any suggestions as to how
to get around it.

Looking forward to receiving an answer.

cheers :)

The reason it doesn't work is quite simple. The header/footer is not in the
text layer of the document and so to access it you have to switch to that
layer. If you want a hyperlink to appear in the text layer on each page,
then you'll have to put it there manually on the page (or in a frame or
table cell - not a text box).
If it's a letter head, why does it need a hyperlink? You can't use
hyperlinks in printed letters - or is there something extra to this that you
are not explaining? :)

If you have Adobe Acrobat (not the reader), you could convert your document
to a pdf and insert active hyperlinks anywhere in the document. I use this
for the table of contents and page to page connectors for our club's
newsletter: See: http://www.myscacc.org/Newsletters/0504News.pdf
