Hello

I have a spreadsheet that contain a number of hyperlinks. Whenever I
click one of these links, 2 things happen

1 - a new windows always opens up in my browser

2 - the spreadsheet closes, so I have to re-open it to click other
links.

I would like to stay in the current window, if possible, and keep the
spreadsheet open. Any way around either or both of these problems?

Thanks,

Dave

Are you using xl97?

If you are, try making a change to a cell (any change, any cell), then click the
hyperlink.

(Selecting a cell, hitting F2, then enter may be enough of a change.)

I think that if excel sees your workbook as "dirty" (needing a save), then it
won't close.

Dave,

Thanks, that did solve it, although I'm not sure why it works (I am
using xl97).

Any thoughts on why I get a new browser window every time I click on a
link?

Give this a try to stop opening a new browser window....

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options>Advanced tab.

Checkmark: Reuse windows for launching shortcuts.

Gord,

Thanks for your suggestion, but that doesn't seem to work for me,
either from Excel or Word. It was already checked, so I unchecked &
rechecked, no difference, even went so far as to re-install Explorer,
no change. And yet, it works OK from Outlook Express. Maybe it's the
combination of Excel 97 and Windows 98SE that's at issue here. I guess
I'll have to update one of these days.

Gord,

I followed that link, which took me to other areas of MS, didn't get a
working answer. Possibly SP2 for IE 5.01/5.5 might have done the
trick, but it's no longer available for Win98. I guess I'll live with
it until I upgrade (one of these days), it's not an intolerable
situation.

In any event, many thanks for your suggestions, much appreciated,
