I have a powerpoint presentation in a folder on my computer.
I have an excel spreadsheet with a hyperlink to the presentation file.
When I click on the link it opens the Powerpoint application as if it is in 'Show' mode but it is not in Full screen (to allow left click to advance slides).
Is it possible to open it in Full screen mode?

Andy,

I don't really know but maybe this will help:

Editing the Open action for PPT (and other) files

When you say not full screen, do you mean it runs in a browser window? Like
Internet Explorer?

Have you checked the presentation's Slide Show Setup settings?
It may be that you just need to change it to Kiosk mode or Full Screen/browsed by presenter.
