In MS Word I can eliminate hyperlinks on at a time. Is there a way to
eliminate all hyperlinks at once?

Not sure which version you have, but my old copy of '97
(which still does WAAYY more than I ever need) has it under:

Tools>>Options>>Spelling & Grammar
turn off "Ignore Internet & file addresses"

I just checked in my old machine, where I still have Word 97 installed.

The instructions that you gave:

Tools>>Options>>Spelling & Grammar and putting a tick mark in "Ignore
Internet & file addresses" only prevents the Web address from
being flagged as having a spelling error. It does not turn off any
hyperlinks.

Whoops, misunderstood...

Try this:

Paste the doc containing the links into a new document.

Do a Select All

Then:

Format>>Style
select Hyperlink select Modify
select Format>>Font
set Underline to None and Color to Auto

That will remove the formatting, although the link will still
be clickable from within the doc (having it black and not
underlined was all I needed - haven't figured out how to remove
the actual "link" info)...
