Hyperlink propagation

I have users at our company using Excel 2000. These users
are doing nothing that they know would cause the
automatica creation of hyperlinks in the spreadsheets they
are working in. Has anyone ever experienced this problem,
that hyperlinks are being created automatically in empty
cells? This is a problem that is causing us a lot of loss
of productivity as users had to remove the erroneous
hyperlinks.
