HUGE Quick Launch Icons

I'm having a problem with the icons in my Quick Launch
tool bar - specifically they are huge! This just
recently started when I turned on my computer and all of
the icons were gone. I re-enabled them and they came
back as large icons. I've tried restarting the computer
and changing the settings for the icons to small but
nothing seems to be working. Any ideas on how to change
them back to small icons would be greatly appreciated.

Open Display Properties (right click empty spot on desktop and select
properties) and then hit the APPEARANCE tab and then on the lower
right, click on ADVANCED. Play with the settings for 3D objects,
Active Title Bar, and Caption Buttons... one of those will change it and
I don't remember which one... Try one at a time lowering the size number
and hit OK and then APPLY and OK..

Open Registry Editor [regedit.exe] and go to this location:

NOTE: Backup the registry keys before modifying. Use the File > Export option to backup the key.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
Set NoSaveSettings value to 0. Repeat the same for this key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

Restart Windows. Now, set the QuickLaunch icons size to small. Restart to see if the settings are retained.

If this also shows in the size of the minimise/restore/close buttons,
top right of a window, go to Control Panel - Display - Appearance and
click Advanced. In Item select Caption buttons and adjust it. OK,
Apply at the outer level
 
This happened to me too
The easiest way to restore them to the original size is to reselect the original Windows XP theme and then re-customize it
 
My turn. Right click the Taskbar, choose Lock the Taskbar. Now slide
the Quicklaunch Toolbar open a little. Right click the Quicklaunch
Toolbar, and look at the top of the list for 'View'. Choose View, Small
icons.

Resize the Quicklaunch Toolbar to the width you want, and once again
lock the Taskbar if you desire.
