OK, I have looked over the various responses to this question previously, but
mine doesnt work. I have never had Autocad installed. And when I do
different sorts, the break shows up after different programs. Short of a
reinstall, any ideas?

Have you tried the edit on Kelly's site line 226, "Remove the White
Space from Add or Remove": http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Instructions for running the edit are at the top of the page.

No. I mean I don't have any idea what you are talking about. If you want
AutoCAD, go out and purchase it. What "huge blank area" are you talking
about in Add/Remove Programs?

Whoa....Back up a second. I dont want or need autocad. The reason I
mentioned that I dont have it is because all of the other posts that are
similar to mine seem to have something to do with Autocad, as does the fix on
Kelly's site. Mine has nothing to do with Autocad, because I have never
installed or owned the program. My add/remove programs list shows about
six programs, then has a blank white space that goes on for about six scrolls
of the mouse wheel, and then the rest of my programs show up. I have also
looked through the registry and dont see any programs with -1 in them. So I
was wondering if anyone had any other ideas.

Gary,

Did you read the info given? Either way, you need to remove the program
listed last or change the DisplayIcon from a negative number. Other than
that, add the DisplayIcon entry. Easy as that.

Kelly - Thanks for the response. I did read the information on your page,
perhaps I misunderstood. I searched for any negative number entrys in the
DisplayIcon key, and only found one, which I removed. I rebooted and the
problem still existed. I still have a few entrys with a 0 at the end, but no
negative numbers. As for removing the last listed program, do you mean the
last overall program listed, or the last program listed with the all numeric
registry entry surrounded by the {}? Sorry to be a bother.

Well, I removed the program before the gap, and it didnt fix it. I will just
deal with the problem until I do a clean install, which I am probably overdue
for anyway...
Thanks for all of your assistance.

Hi Gary,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall - Program in
question.

Add a string DisplayIcon with the value of the installer path for the
program.
