I just bought this gateway computer. And yes, I have already talked to them.
They say I don't have a problem. Under Help and Support\tool\advanced system
information\error log. "Event System: The com & Event system detected a bad
return code durning its internal processing. HRESULT was C0000005 from line
44 of d:\qxp_slp\com1x\src\events\tier1\events systemobj.cpp. Please contact
Mircosoft Product support service to report this error. No place on Mircosoft
to report it. What is it trying to tell me?? Thank you for your help.
Diane

Can happen because the COM+ Event System service is disabled.

Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click COM+ Event System |
Set Startup type to Automatic | Click Apply | Click the
Start button | When started, click OK | Close Services

Hi Wes,

You were right, the Com+Event System was set on manual. So far everything is
ok. Thank you so much for your help.

Diane

Hi again Wes,

I have put it back to Manual. No problem about the oops. And I am afraid, I
didn't understand what that link was for. Other than put it back to Manual. I
thank you again for the extra help.

Diane

Diane,

If you're not having any more problems, then the link is for nothing.

If you do have more problems, like Event ID: 4609, which you didn't post the
Event ID in your Original Post, but that's the error that you had, then the
link offers...

COM+ Event System

Provides automatic distribution of events to COM+ components.

Note if disabling this service then at every boot there will be generated a
warning in the Event Log about this service not running.

Note if not having the proper rights (Everyone:Read, System:Full,
Adminstrators:Full) to the COM+ Catalog (%windir%\Registration), then the
COM+ Event System will fail to operate:

Hi Wes,

I checked under Event Viewer for Event System. There were none of those
numbers. I have a lot of 7035 and 7036. The only four thousand, was 4311.

Thanks Again
Diane

Keep having fun, Diane. ;-)
