When shutting my XP Home system down, hpcmpmger.exe doesn't shutdown and must be manually "ended". This only recently began happening. Suggestions?

I have been experiencing the same problem. I bought a new Compaq
system with Windows XP in late November. I have had the HP driver
support check my system, but it says my software is properly updated.
Has anyone tried the System Restore and had it eliminate the problem?

I have the same problem on my Win2K systems which I assume is from th
HP software for my HP 1350 printer. I have found nothing on the H
website regarding this problem.
Wish they had a fix

Something to try.
Start|Run|Type services.msc|OK| Scroll down to the service named "HP
something or other". R-click on it|Properties|General tab|Set startup type
to "Manual"|Apply|OK|

Take note of the service name in the event you want to change it back.
Reboot, then try shutting the machine down.
