Hi there,
I want to purchase an HP1020 and specs say it is host based printer so
operating system should support the driver.
Does XP support HP1120 printer and does it have a post script driver
for it?
Thanks a lot, T

Dunno, I don't have one of those printers, and if there is an XP driver
for it, HP provided it. Microsoft only use what the hardware vendor
provides.

Hi Bob,
OK will download but is it postscript?
Thanks a lot, T

You understand that "host based printing" means that software on your
computer -- running ONLY when Windows is controlling the computer, so no
old DOS printing apps will work -- converts Windows GDI commands
(graphics commands) generated by the application to the dot pattern to
be created on the page. This dot pattern is then compressed and sent
from the host PC to the printer, which stores the image of the page
before printing. In comparison, PDL-based printers use the processor
and memory resources of the printer.

This means that the "host based driver" is neither PCL nor PS (PCL,
which is hp's Printer Command Language, and PostScript are both PDLs --
"page description languages").
