HP update problem

I am not able to get updates from HP for my new A150N desk top PC. A dialog
box comes on screen when I click Support and it looks like something might
load but the download bar never moves. Anybody have an idea as to what is
going on? I have gone to the HP home page & subscribed to updates but so
far - nothing. When I called the HP's 800 number for support (3 times I have
done this) I get a technician in India but neither of the 3 have been
successful to find a solution. The local CompUSA store where I bought the PC
thinks some software may be corrupt but I do not relish taking my CPU in for
them to try & find a fix. I am also having no luck using HP Image Zone Plus
to send digital pictures in emails. When I get to the step to send a
picture, I get a screen message that says, "An unexpected error has
occurred. Please try again later." Outlook Express is my email service,
Internet Explorer is my browser and Windows XP Home Edition. Any help would
be appreciated.

"updates from HP" such as drivers?

Can you not get the ones you need manually and use :

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

for Windows XP specific updates..

http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/

For Microsoft Office updates..

And for any third-party applications/hardware - the site specific to that
manufacturer?

Every problem you have mentioned is a direct result of HP hardware or
software. Somehow, you are going to have to fine a way to deal with HP. If a
service rep does not seem able to give you any satisfaction, bump it up to
their superior. If that doesn't get you any answers, go higher yet! Write a
letter to HP corporate offices.
