windows will not accept hp software- hp says that ms xp

Doubtful HP said this. Perhaps some tech-support person you were speaking
with told you this, undoubtedly because they could not assist you or did not
care to assist you.

If I was to troubleshoot your trouble on the information given (none) here
is what I would suggest.

If you have a hp psc 2410 photosmart all-in-one and not the 2410v or 2410xi
(perhaps even if you do), Go here:
http://tinyurl.com/sfz1
Order the latest CD of software.

Look through the list of KNOWN problems with the product here:
http://tinyurl.com/sfze
Verify your problem and a knownsolution does not exist.

Document carefully everything you try. If none of this (the newer software,
the problems solved, etc) solves your issue, call HP technical support
either by email:
http://tinyurl.com/sfzo
or by telephone:
http://tinyurl.com/sfzr

Keeping what you have tried close by and telling them this as part of your
original story. They will be more likely to help you given you have used
all of the available self-help and actually put more effort into it.

As for what you were told by who you claim to be "HP", as I said before - HP
would make no comment as a whole, this had to be made by a technical support
representative. You should, at that point, request to be passed on to the
next level of technical support, as Windows XP is by far one of the most
stable versions of Windows released.

Also, do not discount the possibility there is some hardware issue either
with your PC itself or the multifunction device. Either of those can cause
the problems which you actually, did not describe.

Making one other comment, if the information you gave the HP representative
was as complete as what you posted here, I must say I can see why they would
have blown you off.

Have to say that I recently had a similar encounter with
HP tech support on the same issue. When I explained that
every time I tried to run the PSC 2410 installation
wizard, my system crashed, the tech advised that this was
a Windows XP problem and that I should reload my XP
program and consult Microsoft tech assistance. The tech
insisted that the OS was corrupt and that it had nothing
to do with the PSC 2410 software. Now I have power down
problems and UI crashes similar to what I've experienced
with my other (now defunct) pcs prior to their demise.
Aside from wry inferences to my lack of computer knowledge-
got any good ideas?
