I have an HP Pavillion 750n. I have just deleted both
partitions HP had on there and reinstalled a fresh copy
of XP. I made only one account(mine as administrator)
and now it won't let me connect to the internet and
configure Norton AV or Firewall. I have reinstalled XP
twice and get the same problem. Is there something HP has
hidden that could cause this? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Did you install all the drivers for the motherboard, network card, and
all the other hardware? What error messages do you get? What exactly
happens? Saying "won't let me connect..." isn't precise. You just
haven't provided enough information to get a more specific answer.

When I try to configure the NAV it tells me that only a
supervisor can make changes to the settings. I can
download updates but when I open IE it pops up page cannot
be displayed.

I'm a bit confused, Ace. Are you actually able to connect to the
Internet? How else could you download updates if you can't get on line?
I'm sorry, but I'm still not getting a clear picture of what you have
and haven't done. You didn't answer my question from my first post
regarding installing drivers for all the hardware. This of course
wouldn't affect NAV, but it could be the reason you can't get on line.
You might consider taking your machine to a good local repair shop and
having them put it right for you. HP makes very proprietary machines,
and trying to install something different on them than what came
preinstalled is very difficult. Of course, since you blew away the
restore partition, you can't restore the computer to the way it was.

If you want more help here, please fill in the many blanks.
