I did load the printer drivers for my HP LaserJet IIP
Plus printer. I have Windows XP Professional. Most of
my documents print just fine. However, in my accounting
software (One Write Plus version 8) my financial reports
and W-2's show little boxes in certain areas. Whereas on
the preview of the document it looks fine without little
boxes. I have discussed this with One Write Plus, they
said to contact HP or Microsoft. I contacted HP without
any response. I've reloaded the driver twice and I still
have the same problem. Is there another printer driver I
should use in order to get the little boxes to be gone on
these reports. It's really the W-2's that I'm concerned
about.

Thank you for your assistance.

These may be some kind of special character; you'll have to ask One
Write. The problem is that because the LJ IIp Plus is such an old
printer, HP didn't bother to write an XP driver for it. Although
Microsoft did, its XP drivers for old printers are pretty barebones. If
the One Write software is trying to do something special when printing
W-2s, the Microsoft driver may not understand the command. What font
does One Write use? Can you try changing to another font and see if
that works?

What shows on the preview screen in the location where the boxes are
printed? If there is nothing there on the preview screen, that even
more strongly suggests that the One Write software is sending some sort
of printer formatting command that the MS driver doesn't recognize.

If you can live with ink jet printing instead of laser, the cheapest and
easiest solution may be to buy an inexpensive new inkjet printer.
