HP computer not booting up

Have a client I do work for that has a HP slimline case computer (DC 7100 I
think)

The computer suddenly won't boot up into normal mode.
If I boot into safe mode (no issues there) and disable the Com & LPT ports
the computer then boots up normally.

Other than assuming the issue is with the motherboard has anyone have any
suggestions on anything else to check.
Tried restoring back to a previous date and deleting the ports and allowing
Windows to re-install without success.
Windows shows the ports as ok.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Install drivers for the motherboard from HP's site for that particular
machine. If that doesn't help, then your feeling that the m/b is dying
is probably correct.

Thanks Malke, I may try that. At this stage a check is being made with HP
that it may be covered under warrantee.
The client thought 12 months but the HP site has 3 years. He may be in luck.
If so HP can fix it.

Thanks
