Can you select it in Normal View? If so, one way is to select it, copy it via
Ctrl + C, and then paste it in MS Photo Editor if you have it, and save it. Or
you can save the presentation as a web page and then sort through the files that
are generated looking for the images. If the image has been inserted as a
background and can't be selected, I would delete everything else on the slide
and then press Alt + PrnScrn to do a screen capture. Then paste in an image
editor and save it.

It all depends on how the photos are placed in the original presentation.

If you have fullscreen images:

1. Choose File | Save As.... and change the file type to JPG (or any other
available format).

2. PowerPoint will prompt you if want to save all the slides or just the
current slide - choose as required.

On the other hand, if your photos are not fullscreen and/or you have
multiple images per slide, you can save the presentation as a web page, and
it will save all the images for you in the output folder.

If you are using PowerPoint 2002/03, you can also right-click an image and
choose Save Picture As.....

You can also use the Photo Editor that was included with PowerPoint 2000 and
2002 (not PowerPoint 2003).
