My excel could not open for the past two days and I need to restore it. I
have already tried to re-install/repair it but to no avail. I also tried
downloading patches including office updates that might help, unfortunately,
nothing happened. How would I repair my excel?

Hi Jan,

This isn't guaranteed to solve the problem, but it's worth a try. Use
Windows Explorer to search all of your hard disks for files with a .XLB
extension. Delete any that you find. These may be hidden files, so you'll
need to set Explorer to show hidden files before searching.

Excel uses these files to store information about its toolbar
configuration, but they frequently become corrupt and cause strange problems
like this. Neither reinstalling nor repairing will fix the problem if this
is the cause.

I am having the same issue as Jan. I tried your suggestion, but I still get
an error when opening Excel. It still won't run, any more suggestions?
