how vb.net program read C programming language program

Hi

Does anyone know a vb.net program reads the output of C language program. I
intend to use vb.net to create the interface with the user and use C
language to control the process of a microprocessor chip. e.g the chip
detect 1 min, it will show green light on the form using vb.net, 2 min will
display red light on the form....

Any reference or code will be appreciated. Thanks.
