how to write in a dropdown data(Validation)

Please how can i make a data validation (dropdown list) so that the
user can type in something if what he/she is looking for is not
there? I'm using Excel 2003 but if there is an easy way in 2007 I
will like top know.

in the error alert uncheck or use warning instead.
