I am trying to write a document that has chemcial sysbols in it - e.g CO2 how
can I get it to appear with the 2 smaller.

Tina,

You need to change the font for the characters you want smaller and lower to
'subscript'. You can select the number and go to 'Format > Font' to make
the change but there is a shortcut. To toggle subscript on and off, simply
press the 'ctrl' key and the '=' key at the same time.
