I had a problem with my mouse after installing SP2. I cannot install mouse,
I get the error "The required section was not found in the INF." How can I
access System Restore without a mouse. Is there a way to do so using a
command prompt? or some otherway. Obviously, I can't right click. My first
reboot was fine, it was a second reboot when the problem happened. I want
to go back to the first reboot.

TIA

Boot into "safe" mode and use your arrow and enter keys to navigate to
system restore.

I have the same problem but in a different way,

the first reboot was fine but the second reboot rendered
my pc unusable because windows xp would restart everytime
its was doing the windows logo startup splash screen
where these green blocks would move left to right!

so i had to remove the sp2 update using recovery console
and restore my system using retore point to before i
installed sp2, wonder is thats okay....

i mean, why make such a hard update to install if it
werent that games dont work on linux i would change OS
right now!!!!!!!!!! This microsoft wants us to update
because its important but then they give us such a hard
software to update! terrible!

Press the windows key (between ctrl & alt) to bring up the start menu
Use the arrow keys to reach the "System Restore" shortcut & enter to start
it
Use a combination of arrow keys and TAB and enter key in System Restore.

(Use the tab key and then arrow keys on the date page to find the
appropriate date)

Run System Restore from Safe Mode with Command Prompt

In safe mode with command prompt the command to type at the prompt is:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe or
C:\Windows\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
then press Enter

You can get around the Start Menu by hitting CRTL-ESC initially to open
it, then Up and Left arrows to get to All Programs, then right and down
arrows to make your way to have
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore
highlighted, and Enter to load it.

Alt-N will then take you to the restore page, and use of TAB will get
the back arrow at the selection panel outlined as active; back arrow
will then walk back in the calendar. Tab again (and arrow if needed) to
get the desired point highlighted, then Tab again to get Next outlined
and hit Enter to set it going

Not as difficult as it sounds, but you may find yourself going round the
circle with Tab at first. Best of luck
