How to use make a macro active

I was told how to write a macro for mininmizing a word window one file at a
time instead of closing all the open word files at the same time. This macro
was suppose to be used as a keyboard shortcut (For example using the ALT +
F4). How do I make it work. I don't understand anything about macros.

I have made the macro for minimizing one file at a time in Word
operational

several replies that you have sent to me.
Only through your patience and dedication have you made me and most
likely other inexperiience computer users accompligh a task that they needed
to make there computer experience a littlle bit easier Your help is very
much appreciated. Once again Thank You.
Just to let you know that I am taking a course as a computer support
specialist. I am in my second semester. I also want to help those that might
have problem with their computers.
