how to upgrade from XP to XP pro

Is it safe to upgrade XP home to XP pro? I.e., do I have
to reinstall programs and fiddle with drivers after this
upgrade, or is it relatively harmless?

Although it is relatively harmless.. and you shouldn't have to re-install
your applications... Better to backup your impotant files and such first as
with any major computer upgrade.
